Founder Edition 2026: our first Ardennes Attack, in 40 degrees

Our first Ardennes Attack quickly sold out. This is the story of that day, the route through the Ardennes, 40-degree heat, a dream EV line-up, and what we learned from it for August 1.

We didn't expect it.

When we announced the first Ardennes Attack, we were hoping for a handful of EV drivers who are as passionate about beautiful roads as we are. What we got was a tour that quickly sold out, and a waiting list that completely surprised us.

On June 27, we actually drove that first edition. This is the story of that day: what happened, what we learned, and why the next edition is running on August 1.

How Tour Electric started

Tour Electric arose from a slight frustration. Michael and Antoon were invited to a driving day, got excited, and then discovered that there was actually no room for electric cars to fully participate. The EV was an afterthought on a day centered around gasoline.

That felt like a missed opportunity. So we decided to do it ourselves. Not as a hobby, but seriously: a professionally mapped-out route, catered stops, and a community we really wanted to build. A day from start to finish centered around electric driving.

The route of the first Ardennes Attack

We started in Valkenburg aan de Geul, with coffee, a welcome drink and a briefing before departure. Then into the Belgian Ardennes: across the High Fens along Baraque Michel, with a catered lunch along the way near Verviers, past the Coo Waterfall, and with a concluding after-drinks in Maastricht.

40 degrees, and still a great day

The thermometer hit 40 degrees that Saturday. We immediately knew it would be an intense day. But what an atmosphere in the group.

Despite the heat, there was laughter, networking, and enjoyment all day long. The convoy moved as one close-knit group across the roads, and that line-up was an absolute dream. From a Porsche Taycan and a Polestar to a Lotus Emeya and a bright orange wrapped Tesla: a unique mix of EVs, side by side, that attracted attention everywhere.

What worked so well

Looking back, there are a few things that explain the success.

The concept filled a gap

In the Netherlands and Belgium, there is simply no comparable offering for EV drivers: no mapped-out routes with catered stops, no community of like-minded people, no professional organization around it. We filled exactly that gap.

The target group was ready for it

EV drivers, especially drivers of a Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S, or Audi e-tron, often seek unique experiences. They were already looking for something like Tour Electric; they just didn't know it yet.

The participants ensured the spread themselves

Photos were shared, stories were told, friends were tipped off. The community worked from day one. Curious who participated? See which EVs participate in Tour Electric.

What we learned from it

The first edition was also a learning process.

We learned that a small group makes a difference, small enough for a personal experience, large enough for a real community feel at the stops. We learned that lunch is the social heart of the day. Not the route, not the after-drinks: lunch. That's when people really connect.

We learned that a good GPX explanation during the briefing is essential. Not everyone is equally familiar with navigation apps, and a relaxed start ensures a relaxed day. And we learned that people come back: participants from the first edition were the first to book for the next. That says enough.

The next edition: August 1, every EV brand welcome

On Saturday, August 1, 2026, we will be running the Ardennes Attack All-Electric Edition. This time without a power limit: every electric brand is welcome, from compact daily driver to performance monster.

The route has been re-mapped, driven, and checked, with fast charging support along the way and a catered lunch at a beautiful location. But the feeling remains the same as on that first day: driving, enjoying, and connecting.

There are a maximum of 15 spots, and some have already been taken. Starting spots are allocated in order of registration.
