Porsche Taycan on Tour: Why This Is the Perfect Touring Car

The Porsche Taycan is the most common EV in the Tour Electric community. No coincidence, discover why this car shows its best side on mountain roads and long journeys.

If you're at Tour Electric in the parking lot during the briefing, one thing immediately stands out. The Porsche Taycan is everywhere. In blue, in gray, as Sport Turismo, as Cross Turismo. Sometimes three are parked next to each other.

That's no coincidence.

What makes the Taycan so suitable for touring?

The Porsche Taycan isn't built as a regular EV. It's built as a driver's car that just happens to be electric. And you notice that difference on the road.

On a steep section in the Ardennes, where a regular EV carefully meters its power, the Taycan plants its rear axle and pulls out of the corner with a precision you'd expect from a Porsche. The chassis is stiff enough for sporty driving yet comfortable enough to enjoy for a full day.

That's exactly what a touring car needs.

Range and charging

A frequently asked question: isn't the Taycan too economical on range for a day tour?

The honest answer: early models had a more modest range. The newer generation, especially the Taycan with Performance Battery Plus, easily drives 400 to 500 kilometers on a single charge under normal driving conditions.

On a Tour Electric trip of approximately 220-250 kilometers, that means: starting with a full battery, one charging stop during lunch, and arriving in Maastricht with plenty of margin. No stress, no compromises.

And if you also know that the Taycan charges at a maximum of 270kW at a fast charger, and goes from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes, you understand why Taycan drivers never worry about charging.

The Taycan Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo

Not everyone drives the standard Taycan sedan. In our community, the Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo are at least as popular, and we understand why.

The Sport Turismo has the driving dynamics of the sedan but with more cargo space and a slightly higher driving position. Practical for a weekend getaway, without compromising driving pleasure.

The Cross Turismo goes a step further with a raised ride height and a more rugged appearance. On the unpaved roads you sometimes encounter in the Ardennes, that's not an unnecessary luxury.

What Taycan drivers say

In our community, Taycan drivers come from diverse backgrounds. Some came from a Porsche 911, others switched from a Tesla. But they all say the same thing: the Taycan gives you the feeling that you are truly driving.

Not being transported. Driving.

And on a winding road through the Belgian Ardennes, with forests on both sides and an empty road ahead of you, that is precisely the feeling Tour Electric is all about.
